Romantic Brutalism. A Journey into Polish Craft and Design.
The exhibition, curated by Federica Sala and organized by the Visteria Foundation, is a unique narrative about Polish craftsmanship and design, seen through the lens of emotion, material, and form. Romantic Brutalism showcases how contemporary Polish design draws from history – brutalism, romanticism, folklore, and art déco – and transforms these influences into a new aesthetic language. It is a story of nature, transformation, and creativity that bridges tradition with experimentation. The exhibition is organized as part of Milan Design Week

2021 EXHIBITION
In the cave. Objects of ‘visible kind’. Exhibition of Nów. New Craft Poland during Łódź Design Festival.
At the exhibition, we are displaying unfinished works by craftspeople from the association Nów. New Craft Poland. Some are objects which were never completed; the artists have worked on others recently and interrupted this work to show them at the exhibition. All have been frozen in time, stopped at a certain stage of the creative process. We don’t know what they were supposed to be like. Their finite form remained solely in the sphere of imagination. This is why the works are described in a conditional mode, which specifies figures by implication–maybe patterns, maybe aspiration. What is implied? Which pattern is it? What is the aspiration?

HOMO FABER GUIDE
Homo Faber Guide is a signature project developed by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, an international non-profit organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, which was set up in 2016 thanks to the intuition of Franco Cologni and Johann Rupert. The Michelangelo Foundation’s mission is to celebrate and preserve master craftsmanship, and for this reason it has created a European map of the most significant representatives in this field, with the aim of connecting all its protagonists: artisans, designers, gallery owners, art curators, collectors and enthusiasts of high-quality handmade pieces.
